RE: "Ocean Court" Review [January 2000]
From the Author
Thanks for taking the time to review my novel.
I was very pleased to read your review. I appreciate your observations
about the editing and your article made me cry (honestly) at the end ...
poignant. I miss my friend, Ken, dearly. I'm in the process of trying to
find a literary agent to take me on and, hopefully, find a good editor and
mainstream publisher, as the it appears that print-on-demand publishing still
has some work to do to be economically viable for booksellers. In the
meantime, I continue to promote Ocean Court and write my next book. Reading
your review has inspired me to work harder at my writing. It is heartwarming
to know that I'm on the right track. Thank you.
Sincerely yours,

RE:
Failed Inventions Museum [January 2000]
Redundant?
Those "Failed Inventions" in this issue look a lot like some things I saw in
"101 Unuseless Japanese Inventions" by Kenji Kawakami.
Best regards,
[editor's note: The photos may have originated there, but the museum concept, descriptions and intro were developed by Renaissance Online.]

RE:
Owen Hart's Unnecessary Death [June 1999]
Owen's Memory Lives On
I have just finished reading your article about the late Owen Hart. I
liked the article in general however I disagreed with some of your
views. Ascending into the ring from the rafters in not a difficult and
usually not a dangerous stunt. The person is put into a harness and
lowered by a very heavy cable into the ring. This type of harness is
used by acrobats and rock climbers in their teaching and are very safe.
Owen Hart fell victim to a freak accident not a ratings war. A wrestler
being lowered into the ring does not bring ratings because for the last
2 or 3 years before that WCWs Sting always came to the ring from the
rafters and once from a helicopter. The point is that this was not a
new thing nor was it an astounding feat. Don't get me wrong I think
it's a pretty cool entrance but not a great stunt.
My second disagreement is that the WWF is not nor has never been a
wrestling show. It has always been sports entertainment. If it were
wrestling it would not be staged. It is for the most part fake. In an
article in RAW Magazine (Feb. 2000) it was stated that after a match
those involved should be able to walk back to the dressing room under
his own power. However occasionally wrestlers are injured but is this
any different from a baseball, football, hockey, or basketball injury?
And why is it that wrestling is constantly attacked yet boxing is a
sanctioned sport?
I do completely agree with you views on Vince McMahon not cancelling the
pay per view. He definitely should have cancelled it and RAW is WAR the
next night. That was definitely in bad taste and no class like you
stated.
Thank you for your time

SHORT TAKES
Very impressed with the number of movie reviews this month. You seemed
to have hit all of the big ones. But boy your reviewers are tough. I've
been enjoying Renaissance. The look of the site is so much better than a
lot of other pubs out there. The new issue looks great. I love the
layout. Read the new stuff on Renaissance Mag - awesome!
